It's Official, with lots of papers

I emailed Margaret Ramsey this morning accepting the job offer.

Waited awhile and got a bunch of papers back to fill out. Four forms plus a packing list of things I must have.

It'll take me a few days to get everything filled out, might also be easier if I just print them off and then snail mail them to her because I have to get something signed by my doctor or something. Also have to send her my flight itinerary, maybe someone will pick me up and I won't have to struggle to get to the little island the ship will be docket at. That's Peanut Island, Palm Beach, Florida. I get to have another warm winter! I won't freeze like last year.

Got a Job

This is sooooo exciting! My face is going to hurt from smiling! I have a job!

Okay I'll back up a little.

or a lot... When I was about 12 I decided I wanted to be a pirate, I love the history and the romance of it. Modern day pirates do suck and they speak Malay and I can't be bothered to learn that. So I grew up, graduated high school and then had to find something to do with my life. I didn't know what would make me happy. Then I re-read my favorite series, Bloody Jack, after that I knew I some how had to get myself on a square rigged ship. I did research looking for anyway to get on. There's a school in the south of England where you train to be part of the crew, but dang is it expensive and my parents would never go for that!

Just a few weeks ago I came across the HMS Bounty, heeeey look you can apply to be part of the crew, and what? you don't have to have any experience and they pay you! That sounds great! So I thought it over a bit and finally got working on a cover letter and resume, had a friend edit it and sent it out.

Now it seemed like one of those things where maybe at the end of the week I'd get an email saying, "Thank you, we received your resume." Because normally I don't have such luck like I have just received.

That's right! The next day Margaret Ramsey called me! I was a little shocked, nervous and so very jumpy. We talked for a bit, asked why I had applied to the Bounty and not some other ship, stuff like that. Then she said she called to ask if I could send some reference. This is where it got tricky for me, I explained that if I sent her a reference it would have to be from an old high school teacher, I've never had a job and not really going to college at the time. So we talked a little more. She pointed out that I was a different kinda person, I lived overseas in Singapore for 7 years and I've traveled all over the world. Margaret said, "Just from talking to you I can tell that you'd be good for this job."

That right there was a job offer!

I told her I'd like to think about it, I mean what person says yes right away considering I would have to leave for Florida in a month and the face that I still live at home with my mom. So my mom and I will talk it over and so far I know it's going to be a yes to that job. This is going to be an experience of a life time, and I already had one! That's two in one life. HA!
