Fore royal, Sullivan and Niagara

Finally had a good long work party aloft, Tenley and I spent our time on the main crosstrees. First we hooked the mizzen royal fore stay turnbuckle on to the main mast and took up the slack. I hand to hang in my harness when we took up on the topgallant stay. Watched the Dennis Sullivan sail in, but the Niagara was better, she’s about our size, her deck was amazing. After the stays we climbed all over the shrouds cutting off Irish pennants.

After dinner a group of us walked over toe the Sullivan and met up with Ryan and he gave us a tour of the boat. Later Katie and I went over to the Niagara where her friend Ben gave us a tour, she’s more historically accurate, with love overheads, separate births based on rank, hammocks and lots of strict rules. But she is very beautiful.

Other boats arrive

For work party Amy and I tried putting the royal yard together, we were so tired we were having a really hard time, it was like working with two retarded people. Finally with some assistance we got it all done, eye bots, jackstay in place with washers and coder pins, lashed the sail in place and put the gaskets back on.

Pride of Baltimore II, Europa (Dutch), Roseway and Roald Amundsen (German) came in today.

Toronto, Canada

Waking up and remember we had passengers aboard was kind of funny. We had a nice sail into Toronto because we had the time to play around and follow the wind. Docked in Toronto easily and went through customs, it was easier than an airport.

Last day in Rochester

We turned to at 9 for another day of tours, right as we started capstan we saw a car drive up on the field and knew it was Tom, the car honked and we then knew it was also his mom. Had a long day of tours, at tickets since we ran out we did a tally sheet and this time stamped everyone’s hand. We got a lot of new merch yesterday, hats, sleevless t-shirts and a ton of regular t’s.

Received our first passengers of the season as well, stored their things and then kindly asked them to leave because it’s crazy during tours, 9 passengers, 3 to a watch.

We got underway around 1830. We got Sally and her two kids, Brody and Daisy. Sailing on a tall ship was always one of Sally’s dreams and her father’s who had recently passed. Watch started off nice but soon got rough. Hit some rain and just got worse, luckily it was just rain and the wind wasn’t too bad so we just struck sail. It was a very wet watch.

Niagara Falls

Had an amazing day off, I got to go to Niagara Falls. Tom’s mom was in town and let us borrow her car, Peter, Scottie, Jesse, Amy, Tom and I spent the whole day there. Walk around the falls, on the American side you stand next to the falls and see the water pouring over, on the Canadian side you actually see the falls. I had never been to Canada before, we just walked over and went through easy customs. There was so much mist coming off the falls and with it being a warmer day and the water cool, there was so much mist it was hard to see most of the falls.
