Bilges and chocolate cake

For work party this morning Amy and I cleaned forward crew bilges, specifically trying to get at the limber holes. Limber holes are in the ribs of the hull going between the bilge compartments, it took us awhile to find them and once we did we tried to squeeze and reach them. They were too far out board for us to reach them so we just pulled other things out of the bilge like the strainer that had fallen off. We then put a little soap in the bilge and sprayed it all down with the fire hose.

During watch we ended up doing a lot of sail handling, wearing and taught the passengers about wearing, tacking and boxhauling. It was also Richard’s birthday and I was the only one who had known ahead of time, it came out whether he liked it or not and since we had two cooks onboard we got an awesome chocolate cake.
