Left Port Jefferson this morning and made our way across. It was only 12 miles, but still took awhile. Before entering into Bridgeport, Connecticut, Capitan’s Cove we had to wait while a few other boats went in and out, we boxed the compass. Boxing or hanging the compass is to check how close our compass is to the magnetic degrees.
First thing on the dock we put the boat back to it’s usual tour mode with brows and dock lines. A watch had to furl the mizzen topmast staysail, or the dumb sail, it really is dumb and supper annoying to furl. We were out on the crinolines, hanging most of the time in our harness trying to put the sail into a nice bundle. It’s had to do, can’t reach anything, it’s the only sail like it and you can’t see what you’re doing or what it looks like.
For the rest of the day we had work party, Scottie, Brooke, Laura and I were all working on the signal flags, they are very badly frayed. Katie and Amy got to count expired medical supplies and more work was done on taking the capstan out by Zach and Doug.
