We opened for tours at 11 and we were busy all day, there was a constant flow of people. C watch did tours while the rest of us painted. We painted black, yellow and green. A lot of yellow was done and made a big improvement on the boat. What I love best is the fact that we only painted starboard, the side to the public and when we get to another port and are pulled up on the other side we’ll have to go paint that.
Closed at 4 so that we could do our battle sail, which turned out amazing. We had a few pirates aboard that were more like cannoners, they were really fun. Sailed into the inner harbor fired at the Constalation, the Fearless a stupid pirate ship and then at the pirate camp. We sailed out a bit more and fired at Pride and the Farewell a few times before we struck our colours, we were flying our huge Union Jack and we struck all our sails. After it was over we thought it would have been better if we made our yards crooked and lifts all whoppyjangle.
The gunners were really great, they helped us move and load the guns and we had a great time just talking to them while standing by. Turns out they know Lawrence the crazy cannon guy who fixed our guns in Florida. Also the 500 pound brass cannon that he brought to Bounty for the pirate festival belongs to this lady Grace.
After we docked some more crazy pirates showed up and we didn’t know what to do with ourselves.
The gunners invited us over to their camp that night we were really glad at the end of the night that we went. They fired off a few cannons and let Grant and Katie do it because they are our main gunners. They put steel wool in the gun, makes extra sparks and flames out of the barrel. When they fired they moved the guns so they were pointing at Bounty. Then they taught us this amazing game called scuttle hatch. Two players stand on their own little board that is a bit tippy, then you pull on a line between the two and try to get the other one off. It’s not tug of war because you can give slack and whip the line around, I beat Katie three times.
