On the 4 to 8, nap watch. The sun was just starting to come up when we took the deck and it was nice the whole time, as soon as B watch came on it got all foggy.
Had a great nap and then had work party. We ended up having a longer capstan, about an hour, talked about galley things, like rationing food and asking to cook things. Peter also talked about engineer things, lights and the water maker. We also dumped the old capstan base over the side, Brooke said we should have tried to sell it on eBay, actual capstan base use on the Bounty. Finally got assigned work party, was going to NP1 the forward bits, but no, all hands to strike sail. By the time we were done furling and discussing our furls and what we could do better it was time to get ready for watch.
Cliff told us a fun fact today. In Holland they used cannabis for their sails, the British took it and changed the word a bit as they do and it became canvas, canvas sails.
Robin started working on ripping up some of the deck planks around the capstan. The deck that we fixed over the winter is just a vainer and is really thin; the original deck from the ‘60’s is really thick. I was taking pictures of him chiseling out the wood, then he handed me his camera to do the same.
Watch went by really fast, not only because there was a meal to break it up and dinner dishes, but it was sunny for a change
