Poilots

Another nice morning watch, except that it was really cold and on forward look out you kept getting sprayed by the ocean.

For work party A watch was going to slush the masts but we complained a little and ended up un fouling the port main coarse brace and Grant worked on the plate that goes under the capstan base. We had a 20-minute wild life break for some whales and then put the capstan back together. We also got two pilots to take us up the river to Montreal because the river has some crazy currents and it gets narrow.

On watch we saw a lot of whales, best of all we saw beluga whales. Steering at the helm with a pilot watching you made me a little nervous, they know what they are doing far better than I do. They wouldn’t give you a compass coarse, but a, “See that curve in the mountain, steer for that.”

Darren and Mitch.
